GAME UPDATE: September 13th, 2009 (Sunday)

AT THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
On Monday, after lessons, a post goes up on the school intranet announcing the introduction of mentor groups; several teachers will be given charge of four to six students each. The information is also pinned up in the dormitories and staff room, and each staff member to be given a team is given a list of their assigned students including their powers.

Staff are told to take whatever approach they feel appropriate with their group but advised to make time for a group meeting some time over the next week. Goofy group names are encouraged but not, at this stage, necessary.

NEWS:
ON TUESDAY:
A group of youths in costume, mostly mutants, attempt to foil a bank robbery in Florida but wind up causing a fire. Nobody is seriously injured, but, although the youngest vigilante is 21 and none of them are involved with the Institute, the early days of the X-Men are recalled by a few news reporters and some point accusatory fingers at Xavier. Senator Thompson reiterates his desire to implement a mutant registration program if he is elected President in November.
ON FRIDAY:
A twelve-storey robot operated by a scientist with a grudge attacks Manhattan, but with the Fantastic Four battling Skrulls in space and the Avengers on a mission to the Antarctic, who will stop its rampage?
More information on this will go up in-game when the time comes.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
Goes to New Zealand to fight a giant mutated Kakapo created by the Green Man, a deranged environmentalist aiming to restore endangered species through genetic engineering. Where putting laser guns onto massive ground parrots factors into the conservation aspect of his plans is unclear, but Wolverine wins anyway.

OOC NOTICES:
If, during the upcoming in-game week (two IRL weeks), you want a lesson one of your characters is teaching to go a certain way, or if your teacher character plans to be doing something specific and unusual with the lesson, but you don't want to actually log the thing out (which is reasonable), this is where you say so. Drop a comment on this post, other people can reply, fun for everyone. If you've got a new teacher character (ie. if this is their first game update), it's probably a good idea to leave a comment here to give everyone an idea of what their first classes will be like.

If anyone has any issues with the group assignments please let the mods know!

Because an educated guess is still a guess, mostly, and to Naoto, 99.99999999% sure still isn't 100.

Mr H will encourage the graffiti-making. He might offer Neku one of his coffee-table books on graffiti styles for reference. <3

Psh, Mr H is like "The tests I handed out aren't the real deal anyway--the real ones have to be given by trained professionals who usually charge for their time. Don't worry so much about exactness on this."

they are <3

Mr H is resigned to his art becoming practically plush toys for his art class, instead of the assistants he means them to be.

Zexion won't have much trouble learning the focus meditation, he's used to using his power in high stress environments during missions for the Organization, but he still will probably crack if she shoots a spitball at him.

Wally is actually quite decent at knocking things over/beating stuff up with super-speed but after four or five times of doing so, it's likely he'll grow bored of it and start doing other things. Such as producing a marker out of nowhere to start drawing faces on dummies and/or help other people out with their dummies.

CRIMINAL LAW
Okay kids, this week you'll actually have some reading to do. HOWEVER once you have done your reading, you'll be given a case. Not just any case, these are old cases Dick has actually worked on and thus STUFF THAT HAS ACTUALLY HAPPENED. So yes, after changing the names in the cases Dick will be giving these cases to his students to solve. You're welcome to pair or even team up - in fact it's encouraged - or do it alone.

SELF-DEFENSE
This week he'll be teaching you punks how to analyze a threatening situation, recognize the warning signs of someone who's about to go violent on you and how to diffuse and avoid such a situation. So basically you'll be learning how to read body language and use it to your advantage. Lots of theatrics will be involved, fun stuff.

[identity profile] thimbleflight.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we talked about this. You've got a Wendy in the class, since this is the closest thing to her power that's to be found...

Whoo. :P

/throws characters at your classes

Terry is an ISFP (http://www.typelogic.com/isfp.html), where as Shino is, most likely unsurprisingly at all, an INTJ (http://www.typelogic.com/intj.html). Although I have no idea how, erm. Honest. With the test Terry will be the first time, so he may have to take it a second time and really think about his answers.

Also, as far as art goes, Terry will probably start off paying attention and doing the work but then get horribly distracted by the Kangaroos and start drawing them instead.

Criminal Law-
Alfred thinks this is SO COOL. Uh oh his obfuscating stupidity is slipping. He's willing to pair up or team up if anyone wants to. :o

Self-Defense-
Miku is paying close attention, enjoying the theatrics, and asking lots of questions. c:

Amadeus will have to take the ACE exam this week, and he's not going to do very well. He'll seem like he's doing okay at first, but then he'll sneeze and all of the nearby circuitry will start to smoke and spark. He will be very embarrassed, which will only make things worse, and I wouldn't be surprised if everything in the room has shorted out before he's finished.

He is very, very serious about having total control over his powers because working with electronics is a big part of his life, so he is more than happy to attend this class. He isn't going to be so hot at meditation, though; he has a more-or-less constant stream of numbers running through his consciousness, and he doesn't really know how to turn it off. (This might be why he has trouble controlling his powers...?) So when they're supposed to be clearing their heads, he'll try to do it, but just end up thinking very seriously about air molecules or the trajectory of Havoc's spitballs or something instead.

Sasha will be spending this week feeling lucky due to the fact he didn't get a team. Also, he will be trying to pull aside any students who has shown remarkable (or extremely unremarkable) progress to see what is going on for his own notes.

In his classes:

[ENERGY PROJECTION]
This will be done in a classroom setting in the danger room. Because this week he will be teaching safety. Thats right, this week will be teaching basic 'Don't do this, you dumb little children that I know you will attempt doing this.' This will include videos, powerpoints, pictures of 'This is what happens when you shoot an energy blast into a mirror' like things. He is going to be putting the fear of God into whomever thinks this class is going to be fun 'pew pew pew head lasers' times.

It will take nothing less than a death certificate to get out of this. The grades for the week will be based off of notes, a test, and a safety contract he will make everyone who is participating in this class sign.

[GERMAN]
For the low-level German students, he will be teaching basic commands. Sit, stand, jump, ect and basic descriptions. Also, he will be giving his language students a rude awakening by speaking zero English in the class. YAY SUBMERSION.

The higher-levels will be getting a quick and ugly refresher and a test at the end of the week.

For homework due on Friday, he wants introduction papers done. For the Beginners it will be a fill in the blank like paper (Hallo, ich bin ________ und ich bin _______ Jahre alt.) The advanced students have to write it out fully.

Mag will be happy to have more students! \o/ Whatever time works for Miku is good for Mag.

[identity profile] melodyofwater.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Hooray! \o/ Neku gains x1 prissy prettyboy for a lab partner.

[identity profile] melodyofwater.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Joshua will solve the case on his own pretty quickly because hey, this is canon! and thoroughly enjoy doing it. :D

[identity profile] melodyofwater.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Joshua is in your class because it's what best fits at the moment, and will ignore your fear of Godness. He will remain relatively well behaved though, and not sic his own beams on people unless they really piss him off. And then he'll wait until he's outside of class.

I'm not sure if Demyx belongs in the energy projection class, because his power is over water manipulation which is *technically* blasts and stuff but not really energy. Y/N?

[identity profile] x-l-o.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
All right, he'll be the obnoxious student who does all four topics, then! (He has very deep and meaningful things to say about welding processes, you see.) Let's say his work shows a great deal of inventive thought and scientific acumen, but is still too unpolished - and, in this case, unabashedly enthusiastic - to be considered "professional."

He'll join Engineering Club, but not without hesitation, since he's still learning to control his powers. He isn't that interested in starting any personal projects until he's certain he won't ruin them.

[identity profile] digtengraves.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Fine with me. Do you want Logan to take Sasuke to the medlab, or will he wake up after a bit?

The former's probably the best course of action.

[identity profile] notalfredjones.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Matt will have to take the ACE exam this week and really, he needs the classes. It bothers him to take away powers, so really the more control he has over it (and any control is more at this point) the better.

So yes.

[identity profile] sunny-singer.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Giselle has no idea what to do with her fists and will probably initially slap them. XD Give her a stick that she can use as a sword and she'll likely do much better.

[identity profile] valetudochamp.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Amadeus will probably be a case requiring one-on-one lessons. Y/N?

[identity profile] monarchs-voice.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Lrn2deal, Spider. This is as easy as it gets.

[identity profile] x-l-o.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that would probably be for the best! :)
