xi_mods | GAME UPDATE: September 13th, 2009 (Sunday)

AT THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
On Monday, after lessons, a post goes up on the school intranet announcing the introduction of mentor groups; several teachers will be given charge of four to six students each. The information is also pinned up in the dormitories and staff room, and each staff member to be given a team is given a list of their assigned students including their powers.

Staff are told to take whatever approach they feel appropriate with their group but advised to make time for a group meeting some time over the next week. Goofy group names are encouraged but not, at this stage, necessary.

NEWS:
ON TUESDAY:
A group of youths in costume, mostly mutants, attempt to foil a bank robbery in Florida but wind up causing a fire. Nobody is seriously injured, but, although the youngest vigilante is 21 and none of them are involved with the Institute, the early days of the X-Men are recalled by a few news reporters and some point accusatory fingers at Xavier. Senator Thompson reiterates his desire to implement a mutant registration program if he is elected President in November.
ON FRIDAY:
A twelve-storey robot operated by a scientist with a grudge attacks Manhattan, but with the Fantastic Four battling Skrulls in space and the Avengers on a mission to the Antarctic, who will stop its rampage?
More information on this will go up in-game when the time comes.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
Goes to New Zealand to fight a giant mutated Kakapo created by the Green Man, a deranged environmentalist aiming to restore endangered species through genetic engineering. Where putting laser guns onto massive ground parrots factors into the conservation aspect of his plans is unclear, but Wolverine wins anyway.

OOC NOTICES:
If, during the upcoming in-game week (two IRL weeks), you want a lesson one of your characters is teaching to go a certain way, or if your teacher character plans to be doing something specific and unusual with the lesson, but you don't want to actually log the thing out (which is reasonable), this is where you say so. Drop a comment on this post, other people can reply, fun for everyone. If you've got a new teacher character (ie. if this is their first game update), it's probably a good idea to leave a comment here to give everyone an idea of what their first classes will be like.

COMBAT will begin in the same place it did last week, only this time Wolverine will actually be there. Once the entire class has arrived, he will lead them down to the sub-basement and the Danger Room. He will take them into the Danger Room and explain, briefly, what it is ("the Danger Room") and what it's for ("trainin' and givin' you squirts somethin' to do besides fallin' asleep when you oughta be payin' attention"). He will then initiate Training Program 1.0, which involves a number of human-sized DR-controlled "dummies" (one for each student present) continually respawning until the end of the lesson. The dummies are unarmed, but will attack until significantly damaged, at which point they will fade away and be replaced. Have fun, kids.

Minato's decent with his fists, but he'll also obviously have no idea what he's doing, being that he didn't make it a habit to fight at his old school. He'll be incredibly focused, however.

Sasuke's going to end up taking out most dummies without TOO much difficulty, since they're under the level of ordinary criminal mooks. If someone near him is struggling he'll help whilst at no point actually working as a team.

Joshua sucks as a physical fighter, so no punching from him. He'll end up levitating a few feet away from his and do his levitating Jesus beam attacks forever and ever. :D Or until the class is over. Yay stamina practice!

Demyx on the other hand will probably get everyone in his class SOAKING WET with overuse of his powers. But he will beat the dummies and be totally cheerful about it because YAY WATER. 8D Also he will not understand why people are upset with him for being wet.

Minato might give Demyx a mild look, but he's not mad. In fact, he takes it rather well.

Zabuza will be helping Demyx get things very wet. These two ought to be buddies y/n?

Santo will beat up anything not a student within punching range. He'll help out anyone that asks for his help, or suggests he can take on a larger group of dummies for them.

Holly J will just stick with her own dummy. She'll do fine but it's mostly that she's strong and fast, her form needs a lot of work. (She'll slap at least one dummy into a wall).

Kate will kick ass.

Are they allowed to bring weapons to class?

Teddy can punch holes in things well enough, but he'll probably wind up needing someone's help unless the robots are EXTRA DUMB because he's not actually any good at actual fighting yet. BUT I GUESS THAT IS WHAT THIS CLASS IS FOR :'D

If anything comes close to landing a hit on Teddy Temeraire's going to rip its arms off. :Db If he notices in time.

The dummies will rue the day they met Azula.

Which actually means she will be unleashing kung fu/fire combinations on them and burninating them to hell.

Tom has no problem shredding up his dummies, but ask him to throw a decent swing and you won't be impressed. This is a kid who hasn't even tried to fight since eighth grade. :V

OH ALSO Sasuke is going to use his mutant power on Minato by mistake (~their eyes meet across a crowded room~), Minato will get a crazy grin for a fraction of a second, then Sasuke's going to go comatose.

Fine with me. Do you want Logan to take Sasuke to the medlab, or will he wake up after a bit?

He shouldn't have too much of an issue with them. If they're lower level, and he's had some martial arts experience (smart kids need to be kept occupied, yo.) Ed's response to the dummies?

"WHAT THE HELL! THEY DON'T COME BACK UP LIKE THAT IN REAL LIFE!"

This will be the place where people will be able to notice that Ed's right arm and left leg aren't human. Not as good as adamantium (however it's spelled) but he can pack a wallop of a punch!

It's a good thing they fade first, because they'll be bisected with an assembly-line regularity, and Tatsuki will only break a sweat because she prefers it that way.

Alfred will have no trouble, but he also has no form. He's strong enough to just brute force his way through, though, and will also be helping out Matt. Also Al + control is lulz so he might seriously damage/break some of the dummies.

Larxene also has no trouble, pretty much electrocuting her way through hers.

Sakura will have no trouble. She'll just plow through them with a regular sort of punch.

MATT however, will need help and probably to be moved to Toph's class. Because his brother taking out half or more of his dummies won't float well with him or anyone really. Besides Al. I kind of suspect he'll come out of there with pretty good bruises before he gets up the courage to just ask to switch to another class.

Wally is actually quite decent at knocking things over/beating stuff up with super-speed but after four or five times of doing so, it's likely he'll grow bored of it and start doing other things. Such as producing a marker out of nowhere to start drawing faces on dummies and/or help other people out with their dummies.

Giselle has no idea what to do with her fists and will probably initially slap them. XD Give her a stick that she can use as a sword and she'll likely do much better.

Alex is pretty puny but does surprisingly well evading. ...Not so great with the offensive, though.

Eli has little bit of a geek moment when he they get in the Danger Room, and procedes to break a ridiculous amount of dummies, whereupon he asks for something harder.

Hisako's going to survive, and be really psyched about surviving. She'll hammer a fair number, and go hang around those less inclined towards the offensive just in case they get snuck up on or something.

Temari will probably beat the dummies with her fan (like a club)!
