A reserve doesn't ensure you'll get a character, but it is handy for the following reasons:

- If there's a reserve on a character, we'll wait until we receive the reserver's application before we accept any other applications for the character.
- It lets us know what to expect in the applications department.
- It gives other players the opportunity for preemptive keyboardmash over the prospect of characters they like. (That said, please try to keep really long comment threads to a minimum!)
